Jung-Woo Choi

Associate Professor

Prof. Choi received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Korea, in 1999, 2001, and 2005, respectively. From 2006 to 2007, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR), University of Southampton, UK. From 2007 to 2011, he worked at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), Samsung Electronics, Korea. He subsequently served as a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KAIST until 2014. In 2015, he joined the School of Electrical Engineering at KAIST, where he received tenure in 2023. Since April 2026, he has been serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of AI Systems and as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering at KAIST.

Prof. Choi’s primary research areas include AI for spatial audio and speech, active sound control and array signal processing for loudspeaker and microphone arrays. His research interests also encompass sound field reproduction, sound focusing, and their applications to various acoustic systems. He is a co-author of the book *Sound Visualization and Manipulation* (Wiley, 2013).

He is a member of the IEEE, the Audio Engineering Society, the Korean Society for Noise and Vibration Engineering, and the Technical Committee on Signal Processing in Acoustics of the Acoustical Society of America.
